NASA, SpaceX Delay Crew-12 Launch to Feb. 12 Over Weather Concerns

NASA and SpaceX have postponed the launch of the Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station due to unfavorable weather conditions along the spacecraft’s flight path.

Mission managers are now targeting no earlier than 5:38 a.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 12, for liftoff from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

The decision came after a detailed weather review, during which teams opted to waive off the previously scheduled Wednesday, Feb. 11 launch attempt. Forecast models indicated concerns along the Dragon spacecraft’s ascent corridor.

Officials said weather conditions are expected to improve by Friday, Feb. 13, though teams will continue monitoring conditions closely.

Crew-12 Astronauts Remain in Quarantine

The Crew-12 mission includes:

  • Jessica Meir (NASA astronaut)
  • Jack Hathaway (NASA astronaut)
  • Sophie Adenot (European Space Agency astronaut)
  • Andrey Fedyaev (Roscosmos cosmonaut)

The astronauts remain in quarantine at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center as part of standard pre-flight health protocols.

The mission represents continued international cooperation among NASA, ESA, and Roscosmos under the Commercial Crew Program.

Launch Details

Crew-12 will lift off aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft mounted atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40.

If the Feb. 12 launch proceeds as scheduled:

  • Launch time: 5:38 a.m. EST
  • NASA live coverage begins: 3:30 a.m. EST
  • Docking at ISS: 10:30 a.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 13

Viewers can watch live coverage on NASA+, Amazon Prime, and NASA’s official YouTube channel.

Mission Significance

The Crew-12 flight continues NASA’s partnership with SpaceX to transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station under commercial agreements. These missions help maintain a continuous human presence aboard the orbiting laboratory while advancing research in microgravity, Earth observation, and deep-space preparation.

NASA officials said further updates will be shared through the agency’s Commercial Crew blog and social media channels.
